特德·姜《大寂静》中的非人类叙事研究

| 摘 要： | 本文以非人类叙事理论为主要研究视角，探讨特德·姜短篇小说《大寂静》如何通过非人类叙事突破传统人类中心主义的话语模式。小说中波多黎各鹦鹉作为第一人称叙述者，原本身为观察对象的动物被置于叙事中心。首先，小说将鹦鹉作为整篇文本的叙事者，成为了叙事主体。其次，鹦鹉作为非人类观察者，产生了观察视角的反转的效果，使人类由观察者转变为被观察者，从而揭示人类在认知他者层面的局限。最后，小说借鹦鹉濒临灭绝的处境，将宇宙“寂静”与地球上非人类声音逐渐消失的现实形成对照，使物种灭绝不仅表现为生物意义上的损失，也表现为一种独特的记忆和文化的消逝。《大寂静》通过非人类叙事让“动物的声音”进入文本并成为叙事主体，借此对人类中心主义进行了反思，也为人类理解非人类生命提供了新的叙事视角。 |

Non-Human Narration in Ted Chiang's The Great Silence

| Abstract: | This paper adopts non-human narrative theory as the primary research perspective, exploring how Ted Chiang's short story The Great Silence breaks through the traditional anthropocentric discourse model through non-human narration. In the story, the Puerto Rican parrot serves as the first-person narrator, placing the animal—originally an object of observation—at the center of the narrative. Firstly, the parrot functions as the narrative voice of the entire text, becoming the narrative subject. Secondly, as a non-human observer, it creates an effect of reversed perspective, transforming humans from observers into observed subjects, thereby revealing the limitations of human cognition in understanding others. Finally, the story juxtaposes the "silence" of the universe with the gradual disappearance of non-human voices on Earth through the parrot's endangered situation, making species extinction not only a biological loss but also the vanishing of a unique memory and culture. By incorporating "the voices of animals" into the text and making them the narrative subject through non-human narration, The Great Silence reflects on anthropocentrism and offers a new narrative perspective for human understanding of non-human life. |
