论唐纳兰的限定描述语理论

| 摘 要： | 唐纳兰从语言使用的层面，提出限定描述语具有指示功能和指称功能。本文试图论证这两者之间的关系，指出指称功能的行使无法摒弃限定描述语由其词汇和组合原则所构成的语言特性；此外，当指称偏离指示时，只说明语言使用的具体效果是一种多重构建的过程，而并非否定语言表达式的基础意义。在面向由指示功能所揭示的语义内容上，本文认为限定描述语的语义内容本身具有完整性，并且具有关涉世界的弱指称性。 |

On Donnellan’s Theory of Definite Descriptions

| Abstract: | By Donnellan’s account of definite descriptions, two uses are recognized: the denoting use and the referential use. When clarifying the relationship between the two uses, the current paper attempts to argue that to achieve the referential use does not amount to the effect that the language-related properties of definite descriptions determined by the constituent words and syntactic rules should be abandoned, and instead of being a denial of the basic meaning of a linguistic expression, the deviation caused by the referential use from the denoting one merely suggests that the effects of language use are produced by multiple factors. In addition, the semantic content revealed by the denoting use of a definite description is already complete and conveys a weak reference which is related to the world external to the language. |
